As described in more details in the Bidding Documents, Work under the JOC will be limited to the following: 1. Intra-building telecommunications structured cabling construction involving low voltage systems trade work where the value of each job performed is between $2,500 and $700,000, and where work is performed in any on-campus building excluding the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, 100 Medical Plaza, 200 Medical Plaza, and 300 Medical Plaza. 2. Intra-building telecommunications structured cabling construction involving low voltage systems trade work where the value of each job performed is between $1 and $5,999 to support University Capital Improvement and Remodel projects when a General Contractor is present and where work is performed in any on-campus building excluding the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, 100 Medical Plaza, 200 Medical Plaza and 300 Medical Plaza. 3. UCLA has been assigned a waste load allocation (WLA) of “zero trash discharge” in its campus storm drains, as outlined by the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Phase II Municipal Separate Stormwater System (MS4) Permit, issued by the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board (LARWQCB). The proposed project would bring UCLA into compliance with these requirements. The zero-trash-discharge WLA requires the removal of trash greater than or equal to 5 millimeters in size from the campus stormwater conveyance system. The project scope of work includes the demolition of (2) existing Vista chemistry analyzers and replacing them with (1) new Roche Cobas pro and (1) new Roche Cobas Pure Chemistry Analyzer in the existing operational Laboratory on the 2nd Floor of UCLA West Valley Medical Center. The University will furnish the (2) new Roche Cobas chemical analyzer equipment for Contractor to install. The improvements required include modifications to existing building electrical upgrades, plumbing and mechanical systems. One new above ceiling Fan Coil in the same Laboratory Space to be installed. The Contractor to refer to all architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical construction documents to follow relocation sequence of equipment and required utilities so the Lab Staff has two operational analyzers at all times during the construction duration. The number of analyzers consists of the two existing Vista analyzers and two new Roche Cobas analyzers. Recent survey by a third party identifies (ACM) Asbestos Containing Material. The University proposes to renovate Laboratory Rooms 5073, 5076, 5077, 5085, 5086, 5090, and 5096, totaling 4,672 gsf (3,800 asf), on the fifth floor of the east wing of Young Hall, to create newly renovated lab space. The scope of work includes the installation of 21 new fume hoods; the provision of new flooring, wall finishes, research lab benches, chemical storage units, solvent purification systems, and lab casework, furniture, and equipment; and modifications to the building’s mechanical, electrical, and life-safety systems to support the program, including new mechanical fan coil units, ductwork, and modifications to the lighting and controls, fire sprinkler, and fire alarm systems. UCLA Health will renovate a recently acquired 170,000-gross-square-foot (gsf) two-story life sciences building at 5210 Pacific Concourse Drive in unincorporated Los Angeles County. Built in 2002, the existing concrete tilt-up building includes floor plates of approximately 80,000 gsf each, 15-foot ceilings, two passenger elevators, and a freight elevator. Tenant improvements to the lobby and café were completed in 2020, which also added an indoor/outdoor community space. These areas will be retained as the new program allows. The 9.2-acre site includes surface parking. The project will renovate the building to establish a Sports Medicine Institute, relocate the off-campus Clinical Microbiology Laboratory, and create a community fill pharmacy and a specialty pharmacy. Renovations will include minor seismic improvements and upgrades to building systems, utility systems, sustainability, safety, and security. The project will address compliance with the UC Seismic Safety Policy, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the University of California Policy on Sustainable Practices. The project will achieve a minimum LEED® Silver ID+C certification and strive to achieve LEED® Gold, version 4.
